24GHz mmWave Human Static Presence Sensor for Seeed Studio XIAO is an antenna-integrated radar expansion board built on the FMCW principle, combining radar signal processing with human body sensing algorithms to detect people in both motion and stationary states. It's designed to plug directly into the Seeed Studio XIAO series, giving you a compact presence sensor for smart home, automation, and occupancy-detection projects. FMCW-Based Radar Sensing The sensor uses the FMCW (Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave) principle, giving it high sensitivity while remaining resistant to environmental interference that can trip up simpler PIR-based motion sensors. Detects Both Movement and Stillness Unlike standard motion sensors, this board detects moving human bodies with high sensitivity while also picking up static individuals, micro-movements, and people who are sitting or lying down. That makes it well suited to occupancy sensing in spaces where someone might be present but not actively moving. Wide Detection Range With a field of view up to 60 degrees and a detection range of up to 5 meters, the sensor covers a broad area from a single mounting point, useful for room-level presence detection rather than a narrow single-target zone. Flexible Parameter Adjustment Detection parameters can be tuned over Bluetooth or a serial connection to suit different environments and scenes, or configured directly through an app without needing a serial connection at all. Discreet Shell Penetration The sensor has good penetration through non-metallic enclosures, so it can be mounted inside a product's casing without needing a visible cutout or perforation. Note that this board isn't directly compatible with the XIAO nRF54L15 series, since Arduino isn't currently supported on that board. The hardware interface itself is fully compatible, so developers can manually adapt the software if needed, and official software support from Seeed Studio is in development.
