Stefani La Vignola Sangiovese 2024
Region: Yarra Valley Grapes: Sangiovese First Glance: Subtle, Structured, Fresh, Red Fruit The Wine: Sangiovese clone from cuttings taken from the small vineyard (La Vignola) in Alessandro's great-aunties vegetable garden in Tuscany. Later ripening with larger berries. The fruit was 100% destemmed without crushing to maintain brightness and freshness and fermented in a stainless-steel tank. Extraction was light with a pump-over every few days. Pressed after 18 days and sent to 1500L oak barrels with a healthy inclusion of lees for elevage of 24 months before bottling in March 2026. "Subtle and grounded on the nose, here we have red cherry, dried cranberry, sandalwood and a wet clay note - it's all sounding very Italian so far, as it should! The palate is calm and assured: not screaming at you, but it doesn't need to! With this much vibrancy and texture, it's a wine to feel as well as taste. Flavours of cherry, rose hip, cardamon and really racy acidity drive the long and structured finish." - James M, Best Cellars Team
