Gold Tip Branching Hammer Coral, Fimbriaphyllia paraancora formerly classified as Euphyllia paraancora, is a branching hammer coral known for its fleshy tentacles, rounded hammer-shaped tips, and flowing movement in the reef aquarium. This WYSIWYG frag features muted purple to blue-gray tentacles with bright gold to yellow tips, creating a soft glowing contrast under reef lighting. Branching hammer corals are popular with reef hobbyists because they add movement, color, and natural structure while growing as individual heads on a branching skeleton. Care Guide: Fimbriaphyllia paraancora generally does best in moderate lighting and low to moderate indirect water flow. Provide enough flow to gently move the tentacles, but avoid strong direct current that can whip the tissue against the skeleton or cause the coral to stay retracted. Place this frag on stable rockwork with room around it, as hammer corals may extend sweeper tentacles and sting nearby corals. Maintain stable alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, and temperature. This coral is photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding with mysis, finely chopped meaty foods, or quality coral pellets when feeding response is visible.
