The preface reads, "Pour étrennes que repoit-on ?| Bijou, joujou, bonbon, | Chacun a les siennes. | En fait de joujou, | Voilà le bijou | Des Etrennes". Folding calendar torn on outer edge with loss to some text. A few marginal ink stains not aaffecting the text. All edges gilt. Later purple ink inscription on recto of preface, dated 1905. Provenance: Juliette Langlais. 28 x 44 mm. Original faux speckled calf; spine in compartments with five individual gilt religious motifs; covers with gilt mitred, pointillé, and arrow decorated borders. Complete with matching slipcase. Some rubbing along the hinges, and edges. Slipcase missing bottom panel and rubbed with some wear. See Welsh, 1272 for Marcilly imprint. See Grand-Cartret, 1988 for Marcilly imprint.
