PhotoED Issue 77
Published three times a year, PhotoED is an inspiring magazine bringing the art of photography to enthusiasts in Canada and now internationally. Each issue is a curated collection of new, established and underrepresented voices in the photography community. What grabbed us about this issue... With the title of this issue being Home vs Away this issue can be read from either side and when you reach the middle, flip it over to explore the other side. On the home side we enjoyed Martine Cote's Light Houses with her bleak but calming photos. Or on the other side we found "Wish You Were Here" was a very interesting photo essay on vacationing amidst the climate crisis. Its double exposure photographs capture the duality between the earth and humanity and showed the clever things you can play around with as a photographer. Who is PhotoED for? PhotoED prides itself on its lack of "tech-talk" and it feels very accessible to anyone interested in photography. For professionals and amateur enthusiasts alike, it is a worthwhile read. Whether you're looking to learn more about the art form, admire other people's photography, or to find some inspiration for your own work, it's one to keep a hold of and return to whenever you need it.
