It features a one-off 50’s-era Las Vegas theme with custom playing card inlays, a headstock face made from actual vintage playing cards, actual vintage dice inlaid into the back of the body with an epoxy pour, custom Vegas themed tailpiece and a set of Gerold humbucking pickups with custom engraved covers. There is more too – and it seems everytime I look at this thing I find another new and interesting detail I didn’t see before. Of course, like all Hartung Guitars it is crafted with Frank’s unique and distinctive “flow carving” technique and utilizes only the finest quality materials and craftsmanship. Some Details of Frank Hartung Custom Guitars HEADSTOCKS The FRANK HARTUNG GUITARS headstocks are kept compact to enhance overtones. There is plenty of room for an unhindered access to the tuning machines and the string pull is almost in a straight line for proper tuning stability. They also provide a distinctive visual impression. FLOW CARVING Hartung Guitars feature an exclusive and protected FLOW CARVING design that is absolutely unique. The contour lines run fluently into the surface and add a 3-dimensional effect to the overall appearance. It seems as if two top planks melt into each other and shape a perfect object. This striking feature is completely hand-made and creates a unique design. FINGERBOARDS This guitar has an Ebony board with a compound radius for the best playability and fret slots are end-closed, i.e. the fret slots are routed in a way so that they do cut through the edge of the board. This allows for the tang ends to be contained within the board without risk of poking out the side when the wood shrinks due to changes in temperature and humidity. INLAYS Obviously the custom inlay work on this guitar is out of this world and a good highlight as to the style and level of detail you can find on Hartung instruments. TAILPIECE Custom Ebony tailpiece hand made for the VEGASUS model with unique design and inlay TONEWOODS Good tone wood is the major component of my instruments.
