THE CONCEPT The Kimono Kasane (重ね — overlap, layers in Japanese) is part of the Kakusha 2026 Collection. It reinterprets the traditional kimono silhouette through an asymmetrical construction, where each panel is born from the same diagonal gesture. The back and the two front panels are cut in succession following the same oblique line, creating a dynamic balance between architecture and fluidity. The result is a naturally asymmetrical silhouette, in which the two fronts have different lengths. The panel that crosses the body to close the kimono, from left to right, is the shortest, reinforcing the sense of movement and overlap that gives the garment its name. It is completed with a Magnetic Buckle, a technical closure that provides functionality, precision, and a contemporary visual language, transforming a timeless silhouette into an avant-garde wardrobe essential. Each piece is hand-cut, so slight variations are part of the artisanal process. DESIGN AND FEATURES ✦ Asymmetrical construction: The back and both front panels are diagonally cut following the same sequence. This construction creates a natural overlap and two different lengths that define the identity of the Kimono Kasane. ✦ Front seams: Each front panel incorporates a vertical seam that defines the design language shared by the Kata, Kasane, and Kasumi kimonos. On the right panel, this seam integrates the 80 cm (31.5 in) cotton webbing on which the Magnetic Buckle slides, making the closure system part of the garment's own architecture. ✦ Magnetic Buckle closure: A technical quick-opening and closing system that provides precision, functionality, and a contemporary visual language. ✦ Adaptable adjustment system: Thanks to the interior drawstrings and the sliding Magnetic Buckle mounted on a cotton strap, the kimono can be easily adjusted to increase or decrease its volume, comfortably adapting to different chest circumferences. ✦ Two ways to wear it: It can be worn open as a light duster or closed as a tunic or dress with architectural lines, where the overlapping panels emphasize its asymmetrical character.
