Himalayan Pink Salt
Pakistan Ki Shaan — Himalayan Pink Salt A small gift to Pakistan. A lasting one. This Independence Day, Food Fusion is celebrating Pakistan by doing what we have always done best—bringing something from our kitchens to yours. But this time, we wanted that something to represent Pakistan itself. Himalayan Pink Salt is a natural resource of our country, recognized around the world. Yet it remains far less common in Pakistani kitchens than it should be. For years, we have been working to change that. Across more than 4,000 Food Fusion recipes, we have made a conscious choice to say “Himalayan Pink Salt” rather than simply “salt.” And whenever I cook on camera, I proudly call it what we believe it deserves to be called: “Pakistan Ki Shaan — Himalayan Pink Salt.” With more than 2 billion views on YouTube and over 8 billion views across platforms, we have been fortunate to have a voice that reaches millions of kitchens in Pakistan and around the world. We believe that voice comes with a responsibility. If we can make Pakistani food more accessible to the world, we can also help make something uniquely Pakistani a little more familiar in everyday life. One spoon at a time. From Pakistan to the world—and back to our kitchens. Pakistan is already a major producer and exporter of salt. In 2024, Pakistan exported approximately 400 million kg of salt, generating around US$76.7 million in export value. These figures represent salt exports broadly and not Himalayan Pink Salt alone. The opportunity goes beyond mining and exporting a natural resource. The greater opportunity is to create more value around what Pakistan produces—through local processing, packaging, manufacturing and Pakistani brands. Every stronger domestic and international market for Pakistani products can contribute to businesses, employment and foreign exchange. For Pakistanis living abroad, choosing Pakistani products can be a meaningful connection to home. For those living in Pakistan, choosing our own products is a way of supporting an industry that has the potential to represent Pakistan well around the world. We believe both matter. And we listened to you. For a long time, many of you asked us for an iodized Himalayan Pink Salt. We listened. Food Fusion Himalayan Pink Salt is now available in two variants: Fine Pink Salt — For those who prefer Himalayan Pink Salt without added iodine. Fine Iodized Pink Salt — For those who want the benefits of an iodized salt while choosing Himalayan Pink Salt for their everyday cooking. Iodine is an essential nutrient, and naturally occurring Himalayan Pink Salt should not be assumed to provide adequate iodine. Our iodized variant gives consumers the choice to include an iodized pink salt in their everyday kitchen. Why are we doing this? Because we don't believe that celebrating Pakistan has to be limited to a day. Sometimes it can be a product. A business. A Pakistani idea. A Pakistani-made object sitting in a kitchen thousands of miles from home. Something that creates value here, represents us there, and becomes part of everyday life. This Independence Day, we wanted to give Pakistan something small—but something that could last. Food Fusion Himalayan Pink Salt. From our kitchen to yours. From Pakistan, with pride. Pakistan Ki Shaan — Himalayan Pink Salt Making a difference, one spoon at a time. Happy Independence Day, Pakistan.
