SAIDIWAS “All punk cons” LP (black) 20.00 EUR / 90zł PRE-ORDER (REFUSE) Saidiwas were so ahead of their time it’s insane. From their gender and sexuality politics to their aesthetic and style, if their record came out today it would seem modern and boundary-pushing (Vique Simba) They were smart and radical. They were such a groundbreaking and fantastic band (Dennis Lyxzén) SAIDIWAS’ debut EP, released in 1996 by Desperate Fight Records, delivered emotionally charged, passionate hardcore with lyrics that strongly advocated anarchism, veganism, gender equality, and straight edge. Their live shows, particularly their infamous appearance at Ieper Fest ’96, stood in stark contrast to the hyper-masculine hardcore scene of the time. By 1997, the band had undergone significant lineup changes. Their sound evolved as well, but while much of the late-’90s hardcore scene was moving into increasingly heavier and violent territory, this band from Umeå took the opposite direction. They developed a unique style that blended post-hardcore and punk rock with pop sensibilities and an avant-garde edge. Lyrically, they continued to express their revolutionary, anti-patriarchal message through a deeply personal and political approach. All Punk Cons was originally released in 1997 on Desperate Fight Records. The album’s title pays tribute to The Jam’s classic All Mod Cons. It features 13 melodic, emotional, and sensitive songs that showcase the band’s distinctive musical vision. The band’s final lineup included Sara from DOUGHNUTS, although this incarnation never made any recordings. Two of its members, Sara and Ludwig became part of THE (INTERNATIONAL) NOISE CONSPIRACY, the band formed by Dennis Lyxzén (REFUSED) and Lars Strömberg (SEPARATION) when history of SAIDIWAS ended. Now, nearly 30 years later, All Punk Cons is finally being reissued on vinyl. This expanded edition includes one bonus track that originally appeared on the Straight Edge As Fuck III compilation CD (Desperate Fight Records, 1997). The release also features an 8-page booklet with lyrics, rare photos, and liner notes by Dennis Lyxzén and Vique Simba. Remastered by Mario Dziurawiec. https://refuserecords.bandcamp.com/album/all-punk-cons-lp
