The MCB / miniature circuit breaker has a C-Characteristic (tolerance time) which allows a certain overload for a specified period of time. This is to allow, for example, charging and other things that require high starting currents to start with high currents without the circuit breaker tripping. The characteristic is determined by the electromagnet in the fuse. It is recommended to install a miniature circuit breaker that is 80% of the continuous current load over time. For example, if a charging station is to continuously charge with 16A, it is recommended to use a 20A fuse and appropriate cable cross-section for the installation.
