Jo has designed this medallion to be off-centre and unsymmetric so that each round is made up of two separate motifs. This should make the construction much more forgiving and beginner friendly. The design features several different techniques including her trademark Freehand Foundation Piecing, simple needle turn appliqué and classic improv patterns such as wonky crosses, log cabins, forks and strings of beads. Using improv piecing offers the opportunity to be more spontaneous and creative and to include subtle variations to help you make your own unique version of the quilt. It also discourages a narrow focus on perfection and instead encourages a playful attitude and an emphasis on enjoying the process itself.
