Rose Cut Diamond Daisy Earrings | 2.75ctw+ | 18ct Gold | Louis Philippe French c.1840-1850
An extremely rare find; original Louis Philippe period French diamond daisy earrings at a scarce large scale! Measuring 15mm in diameter, set entirely open-back in solid 18ct gold with rose cut diamonds totalling over 2.75 carats, this is a pair of daisies like we've never had before! The central stones are each a sizable 5.75mm with a heart-like form to their cutting that is characteristic of the finest mid-19th century French lapidary work. The bottom of the hooks have been professionally redone — typical and entirely appropriate maintenance for earrings of this age and preciousness — and the French hallmarks on the hooks confirm their origin. At 3.31 grams each and 1 inch of drop, they wear with the quiet authority of something that has survived nearly two centuries!
