Jim Murray opens his tasting year once. This year, he opened it with our Cask Strength Whisky. Seven years in hand-selected bourbon and oloroso casks. Bottled straight from the wood at 58.2% vol. What's in the bottle is exactly what came out — lightly peated, intensely flavourful, and entirely unmediated. Jim Murray tasted roughly 4,200 whiskies for the 2026 Whisky Bible. He scored ours 95 out of 100. Called it "a masterpiece from the far north." Said it was "far too complex to decide over from a single tasting alone." The 95-plus tier is the top 1% of everything he tastes, placing this among the top ten whiskies in the world. Murray takes no payment from distilleries. Not from us, not from anyone. Tasting notes ON THE NOSE – Fresh bourbon aromas are softened by sweet sherry essence. Hints of toffee and caramel shine through. ON THE PALATE – Chocolate truffles meet sticky toffee pudding and trifle sponge – and the whole mouthful is wonderfully overlaid with gentle hints of peat smoke. By any standards this is a rich and sumptuous dram, bursting with flavour. FINISH – Caramel sweetness is present, accompanied by hints of toffee and demerara sugar. A trace of peat smoke remains until the very end, ensuring a beautiful lingering finish. Non chill-filtered / Natural Colour 58.2% ABV. 70cl
