So excited to share my love for Spencerian script in Seoul, Korea this summer! ✨ Introduction to Spencerian - Basic Strokes + Lowercase Letters Date: Saturday, July 4, 2026 Location: Near Yeouido Park. Exact location will be sent before workshop Time: 10:00AM-3:00PM (includes a lunch break) Developed by Platt Rogers Spencer (1800-1864), Spencerian is a form of penmanship that grew in popularity and was considered America's writing standard during the 19th and early 20th century. These graceful and romantic letterforms continue to be well sought out today. Whether you are an absolute beginner or an experienced calligrapher, all are welcome! In this introductory workshop, we will begin from the ground up and go over: Introduction to Spencerian Warm Ups/Drills/Nib Exercises Lowercase Basic Principle Strokes Breakdown of each lowercase letter *Note - An exemplar of the uppercase letters will also be provided Students should bring: Penholder (I recommend oblique but you can use straight if you wish) Mechanical Pencil *Optional - colored pen to take notes The following materials will be provided for you (valued $60): Workshop instructional booklet Guidesheet Packet 2 pointed nibs Walnut ink in an acrylic inkwell *The class will be taught in English **Class size will be limited to 16 with a minimum of 10 to facilitate an intimate and personalized workshop experience. ***Please keep in mind that your registration is non-refundable but transferable
