Sgraffito Plates | Thursday 30th July

Join me for a relaxed and creative two hour workshop, where you’ll learn to hand build and decorate your very own sgraffito plate. This is an adult only pottery workshop, perfect for complete beginners. Sgraffito is a decorative pottery technique where layers of coloured slip are applied to leather-hard clay, then carefully scratched away to reveal the clay body underneath. Using carving tools, you can create patterns, illustrations, and textures with beautiful contrast and detail. In this workshop, we’ll explore simple carving techniques to decorate your own unique ceramic plate. After the workshop, your plate will stay at the studio to be carefully dried, glazed, and twice-fired, making it food-safe and durable for everyday use. Finished plates will be ready to collect 4–5 weeks later, or can be posted for an additional cost. Come along for a cosy evening with friends, or join solo and meet like-minded people in a welcoming atmosphere. By the end, you’ll have crafted a beautiful, functional piece of pottery to treasure. 📍 Stratford-upon-Avon (exact location will be shared after booking). Workshop Details Cost: £50 per adult Duration: 2 hours Date: Thursday 30th July, 6-8pm Location: Stratford-upon-Avon (exact address shared after booking) Collection/Postage: Plates will be ready in 4–5 weeks. Collection from the studio or postage available for an additional fee. What to Wear: The studio is in a beautiful old barn building, which can be a little chilly- so bring a warm layer. Wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little clay on (but don’t worry, clay washes out easily!). Important Note: Clay is a natural material and can occasionally crack or break during firing. Every care will be taken to ensure your mug makes it through the process, but this risk is part of working with clay. Please note: Unfortunately, the studio does not currently have disabled toilet access. If you have any special requirements or accessibility needs, please get in touch in advance and I’ll do my best to accommodate you. Cancellation Policy Tickets are non-refundable. Rescheduling is possible up to 72 hours before the workshop. If I have to cancel the workshop, you will receive a full refund.
