Generics Itraconazole Used For Fungal Infection How it works Itraconazole is used to treat yeast infections of the mouth and throat or of the esophagus (tube that connects the throat to the stomach). Itraconazole is in a class of antifungals called triazoles. It works by slowing the growth of fungi that cause infection. Usage And Safety Dosage Adults : 200mg once daily. Increase to 100mg if no improvement. Max : 400mg/day. Children : Not recommended . Consult your doctor or pharmacist for dose adjustment. Indication It is used for infections caused by fungi or yeasts such as vaginal infections, dermatological infections, onychomycosis etc. When not to Use It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to itraconazole or to any of the excipients.
