Lavender Salve - Hill Country Lavender
We're excited to welcome back an old friend to carry the flowery vibes of spring and summer - our beloved Lavender Salve! This time we are used lavender grown about a 45 minute drive from our house, at a farm called Hill Country Lavender. I am glad we did. The buds they sent us are some of the most fragrant I’ve ever smelled! Hill Country Lavender has been growing in Blanco, TX since 1999. Lavandula intermedia is varietal they grow. It thrives in the climate here. The buds are a beautiful, creamy purple color with a potent scent. This lavender has made an amazing salve. After the lavender buds were macerated in organic golden jojoba oil and organic olive oil for 6 weeks, I filtered and blended the it with melted mango butter, beeswax, and a few drops of lavender essential oil. This creamy and luscious salve has a very mellow lavender scent. Lavender needs proper drainage to thrive, Babygirl does not like to have wet feet. That need for drainage, for letting go, is another one of Lavender’s main spiritual/metaphorical gifts; cleanse it, clean it, let it go. Plants can teach us so much when we look closely.
