Today, it comprises 817 members, cultivating approximately 2,200 hectares at high altitudes ideal for specialty coffee. Member farms average 1–5 hectares, and the cooperative primarily produces fully washed coffees from diverse varieties such as Bourbon, Typica, and Caturra. Beyond production, La Prosperidad de Chirinos emphasizes sustainability and community development. It provides agronomic training, financing, and technical assistance to improve productivity and quality. Members benefit from programs promoting diversification (e.g., beekeeping, avocado farming), sensory evaluation, and quality awards. The cooperative also invests in education and leadership through youth and women’s committees, addressing gender gaps and empowering future generations. Partnerships with local universities support scholarships for members’ children. Harvest runs from March to September, with most farmers processing coffee on-farm using traditional fully washed methods, while centralized drying facilities and raised beds are increasingly adopted to meet specialty market standards.
