Before every Kentucky Nectar batch release, our team selects one exceptional single barrel. Of all the barrels destined for the Spring 2026 batch, one stood out among the herd. One we couldn’t stop drilling over and over… just to “check on it.” We let this chosen barrel sit even longer than the rest. And, boy, was time kind to Founder’s Pick #4. Nose: You can spend twenty minutes nosing this and not get bored. Vanilla ice cream drizzled with honey, black pepper, ginger, orange blossom, barrel char, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and other baking spices. Palate: Super layered and very oily. It’s round and complete, starting with salted caramel, butterscotch and a hint of sweet cream, moving into pops of honey, a punch of black tea with sugar, buttered graham cracker crumble, toasted oak, orange zest, and stewed fruits. Finish: Protracted and robust. The barrel spice arrives right after a note of Caramel Creams, but doesn’t overwhelm. The final note is the last bit of creme brulee crust scraped off the ramekin: little sweet, little burned; exactly enough of both. Maximum of 1 bottle per order.
