This plant is one of the more decorative, tall varieties, forming compact neat mounds with ovate leaves and with excellent branching qualities. They tolerate heat exceptionally well and are in flower from June to late autumn, making them an ideal choice for planting in flower beds and borders. The Salvia Red also looks striking when grown in balcony planters for extraordinary feature displays all season long. Plant in loamy, well-drained soil and in full sun or part-shade. Feed plants regularly with a balanced fertiliser. To improve their looks and encourage better flowering, deadhead the plant by pinching off the flower spikes with spent blooms.
