Streptocarpus pumilis
A miniature species from Zimbabwe, uncommonly seen in cultivation. It only grows to about 4″ tall (spikes will be slightly taller). Flowers come directly out of the leaf, as in some Pleurothallids. Beautiful purple and white blooms, and just an overall really charming species. Blooms often and abundantly. It grows in rock clefts just north of Hahare in central to eastern central highlands of Zimbabwe. I’ve been growing it on pro-mix but it would likely appreciate some additional calcium carbonate (ground up cardboard chalk will do) to more closely mimic its natural growing conditions. Available plants are flowering size and growing in 2″ pots. They will be shipped in their pots. The last photo is representative of the size plants available.
