Place a slider in one of the numbered slots to set the size of your play area. 2. Choose your pieces. 3. Fill the area completely with no gaps and no overlaps. 4. Move the slider wider and try again with more pieces. 5. Challenge a friend: use both sliders and race to fill your side first. When you're done, everything packs back into the box exactly as shown on the included packing guide, with the board sandwiched neatly between the storage base and the lid. The Story Behind Polyominoes Polyominoes are shapes made by joining squares edge to edge. The name was coined by mathematician Solomon Golomb in 1953, and the shapes became famous a few years later through Martin Gardner's legendary puzzle columns in Scientific American. The 12 pentominoes alone can fill a 6 × 10 rectangle in 2,339 different ways, yet finding even one can take hours. Hexominoes are even trickier: there are 35 of them, and remarkably, the full set can never fill a rectangle at all.
