Pygmy Corydoras | Gastrodermus pygmaeus

Overview A tiny, peaceful South American catfish with a dark stripe along its silver body. Also widely known as Corydoras pygmaeus, it swims in midwater as well as exploring the bottom. Behaviour Keep a group of at least six, preferably ten or more. Plants and shaded resting places help these small fish feel secure. Tank Size We recommend a mature aquarium of at least 60 litres for a group, with fine sand, plant cover and gentle filtration. Allow extra room for companions. Compatibility Choose small, quiet fish with compatible water requirements. Avoid large, predatory or boisterous tankmates. Diet Provide tiny sinking foods and small frozen or live foods. Check that food reaches the group; they cannot live on scraps or algae. Care Maintain approximately 22–26°C and stable water conditions. Keep ammonia and nitrite at zero, make regular partial water changes and keep the sand clean. Leave access to the surface.
