Supports engines where the MDS system has been physically removed, including MDS lifter removal and installation of a non-MDS factory-equivalent camshaft when required by the mechanical delete configuration. Can also be used on mechanically sound factory engines that still have the original MDS hardware installed. In that setup, the system is disabled in the calibration so the engine remains in full-cylinder mode and the MDS lifters and related components stay dormant. Applies the supported MDS solenoid and circuit diagnostic changes included in the approved calibration so that the vehicle will not set a check engine light or DTC (diagnostic trouble code) related to the MDS delete when the supported vehicle and controller are programmed correctly. GPEC2A bootloader unlock: As part of this service, the PCM bootloader is unlocked. After this service is completed, the PCM is capable of being tuned with compatible tuning software. Important service information This is a programming service, not a physical module purchase. This MDS delete-only service is intended for engines using a stock or factory-equivalent camshaft profile. Performance camshafts with higher lift, higher duration, or stage 1 / stage 2 style camshaft changes require a full performance tune rather than this standalone MDS delete service. Those combinations can usually be accommodated separately. Retaining functional VVT hardware does not require VVT delete programming. If an aftermarket camshaft or mechanical delete kit removes or locks out VVT, contact Garrett Tuning before ordering because additional programming may be required. Mechanical MDS failure, lifter damage, camshaft damage, oiling issues, wiring faults, and unrelated diagnostic trouble codes are not corrected by programming alone. Not every trim, transmission, or engine combination in these model ranges used MDS. VIN, PCM label, service-number, vehicle-configuration, and calibration review are required before work begins.
