Salt Lake Temple Historical Commemorative Medallion

A Legacy Preserved. A Faith That Endures. Commemorate the remarkable story of the Salt Lake Temple—from the sacrifice of the pioneers to the preservation of a sacred landmark for generations to come. They built it. They sacrificed for it. It endured. A new generation strengthened it for the future. The Salt Lake Temple stands as a testament to faith, perseverance, and the enduring purpose of the House of the Lord. Its story began with the laying of the foundation in 1853. Forty years later, on April 6, 1893, the completed temple was dedicated. More than a century later, an extraordinary renovation and seismic upgrade prepared this historic structure to continue serving future generations. This commemorative medallion brings that story to life through detailed, three-dimensional relief. A STORY TOLD IN EVERY DETAIL The pioneer foundation: Stone masons, tools, and the temple under construction honor the faith and labor that brought the original vision to life. A sacred destination: The completed Salt Lake Temple represents the enduring purpose of temple worship. Preservation for the future: The foundation imagery recognizes the remarkable engineering undertaken to strengthen and protect the historic structure. Words with meaning: “Truth Restored,” “Where Earth Meets Heaven,” “Faith Endures,” and “A Sure Foundation” connect the temple's history with its spiritual significance.
