Queen of Hearts

Homalomena rubescens 'Maggy' is the plant we reach for when a corner is darker than a client would like to admit. Broad, heart-shaped leaves in deep glossy green on wine-red stems, and a tolerance for low light that most of the aroid family can only dream of.Best space & placeMedium to low light — it holds its colour where a philodendron would sulk. Keep it away from direct sun, which scorches the leaves. Normal room temperatures, minimum 15°C; it enjoys a humid bathroom or kitchen.When to water & feedKeep the soil lightly moist, watering when the top couple of centimetres dry out. Feed every 4–6 weeks through spring and summer at half strength.Need to knowLeaves will curl or brown at the edges if the air is very dry — an occasional mist helps. Toxic if eaten, so not one for pets that graze.Decorative pots not included. The plant will be delivered in a plastic nursery pot.
