Phonak Audéo EON R The Audéo EON R is Phonak’s conventional rechargeable RIC in the EON lineup. It runs on Phonak’s ERA chip, the same base chip used across the whole EON line for Bluetooth, Roger, and Auracast connectivity, but without the second, dedicated HYPERSONIC chip that EON Sphere uses for Spheric Speech Clarity 3.0. It’s for mild to profound hearing loss. EON R is a prescription hearing aid and requires a professional fitting. We have not yet fit EON R in clinic; what follows reflects what Phonak has published so far. Key Features ERA chip: the single processor running EON R’s sound processing and all wireless connectivity. Multiple industry sources describe this as the same base chip used alongside HYPERSONIC in EON Sphere; EON R simply doesn’t carry the second chip. AutoSense OS AI 8.0: Phonak’s automatic scene classification system, the same version used in EON Sphere, which the company says adds a separate exit threshold for the Speech in Loud Noise program to keep speech-enhancing features engaged longer when noise levels fluctuate. WindBlock 2.0: Phonak says this reduces wind noise by up to 50 dB while preserving more of the target sound than the previous version. Universal Bluetooth connectivity: connects to virtually any Bluetooth-enabled smartphone, per Phonak, plus Auracast broadcast audio support and continued Roger and DuoPhone compatibility. Up to 38 hours of battery life on a full charge, per Phonak; actual runtime depends on streaming use, listening environment, and battery age. EasyGuard dome compatible. CROS EON compatible — EON R is the only EON model that pairs with CROS EON.
