Made with two layers of gauze, this tenugui is very soft to the touch and highly absorbent, perfect for everyday usage as a hand towel or wrap. Printed with the famous Ukiyo-e artwork from Katsushika Hokusai, this 'Great Wave off Kanagawa' tenugui is instantly recognizable. The great wave print shown on a calming light blue background with wave outlines. Note that unlike traditional tenugui, all the edges of this tenugui are hemmed, typically of double gauze tenuguis. Pair this with the 'Red Fuji' tenugui for a Hokusai decor at home. About tenugui Tenugui are very thin pieces of cotton fabric. You can use them for pretty much anything. While they are traditionally used as a hand towel because of their superiour absorption properties, you can use them as a table runner, wrap, head scarf (they are commonly used as a head band in Kendo), and even just as a decorative tapestry piece.
