January Wheel Thrown Dinnerware Sets with Jesse Gritzinger

Learn to create your own cohesive dinnerware set! In this intermediate-level class, students will focus on refining technique, consistency, and precision while making matching plates, bowls, and cups. Learn to throw multiples with uniform proportions, nest bowls, and use calipers, templates, and measuring guides to achieve well-matched sets. Guided demonstrations and individualized instruction will help you develop the skills needed to create a functional, elegant tableware set. This class is recommended for advanced beginners and intermediate level potters who feel comfortable with the throwing process; see below for more information. This is a condensed month-long class which will meet for two hours each week for a total of four sessions, with open studio time every day for you to practice on your own Mondays January 11 - February 1 | 7:00 - 9:00 PM Location Still Life Ceramics 1600 Altamont Avenue Richmond, VA 23230 Class Outline To get the most out of this class, you should feel comfortable with all of the steps and processes you learned in the four week Beginning Wheel course, and can somewhat reliably wedge, center, and throw 2.5-3 lbs of clay. Typically, students take Beginning Wheel twice before taking an intermediate level class. In addition to the weekly class meetings, we have open hours seven days a week for you to come in and work on your own. Continuing Wheel students should bring their own clay, tools, and bats (we recommend at least four 12" bats). We have a supply shop at the studio where you can purchase these things if you need them. The course fee includes firing for up to 15 pieces and use of studio recycled clay. Our FAQ page contains more information. Policies By enrolling in a class or workshop, you are acknowledging that you have read and understand the safety instructions and liability waiver. Cancellations made 4 or more days before the start of the class will be refunded. For cancellations made fewer than 4 full days, but more than 24 hours before the start time, a 50% refund or 50% credit toward another class or workshop will be issued. We cannot provide refunds or credits for cancellations or rescheduling requests made fewer than 24 hours before class starts, if you miss class, or arrive too late to participate.
