Almond Blossom is a batik lamp kit inspired by Van Gogh's most tender painting, the blossoming almond branches he made to welcome his newborn nephew into the world. Delicate flowers open across sweeping branches. Two purple beetles rest quietly among the blooms. When the lamp is switched on, every colour you painted glows softly from within. I drew this pattern by hand, bringing together Van Gogh's iconic blossom branches and the wax-resist craft of traditional Malaysian batik. The result is something that feels both familiar and completely new. The waxing is already done — all you do is pick up a brush and paint.
