A handsome English mahogany floor lamp, designed in the Georgian / Neoclassical taste and dating to the early 20th century, circa 1920–1935. The tall standard is finely turned with a long fluted central column, shaped baluster sections and a substantial circular stepped base. The dark mahogany finish has developed a warm, rich patina, with light age-related wear consistent with use. The lamp is fitted with a period-style fabric shade trimmed with decorative braid and a deep fringe, giving it a particularly elegant traditional appearance. Twin pull chains provide convenient operation. A refined and architectural floor lamp, ideal beside a reading chair, sofa, library table or in a traditional bedroom or sitting room.
