Attic skyphos of the so-called “Saint-Valentine” type, inspired by a late Classical prototype in the Louvre Museum, dated to ca. 450–400 BCE. This elegant two-handled wine cup is decorated in the refined style associated with the Saint-Valentine Class, known for its delicate ornamental patterns rather than figural scenes. Against the deep black-glaze surface, fine motifs of palmettes, laurel leaves, and stylized ivy create a rhythmic, lace-like decoration. The modern name “Saint-Valentine” refers to the heart-shaped ivy leaves and intricate linear patterns, which reminded scholars of the decorative language of Valentine cards. The result is a graceful and unusually romantic example of Attic ceramic design, combining simplicity of form with refined painted ornament. Dimensions: H 12cm, max L 21cm , rim D 14cm
