In the world of heavy music, few bands embrace dynamics and negative space like Oakland, CA’s Kowloon Walled City. Since forming 18 years ago, the band has increasingly refined its deconstructed approach to noise rock, math rock, and sludge. Out of print for the past several years, Persistent Vision is proud to present a much needed and overdue reissue of Kowloon Walled City’s first release, “Turk Street.” Originally released in 2008, the five song EP captures the band at their heaviest, grittiest and most pummeling. Where the band later explored quieter, minimalist dynamics, “Turk Street” finds them leaning hard into their noise rock and sludge roots, taking inspiration from bands such as Shallow North Dakota, Unsane and Neurosis.
