So does the No. 15, which hangs there forever. Never was this truer than when the freshman sensation Carmelo Anthony arrived for the 2003 season. He was the smoothest to ever do it, a pure scorer of impossible dimension, who turned his lone collegiate year into a magical run unlike anything Syracuse had ever known. Averaging 22.2 points and 10 rebounds a game, the 18-year-old Melo led the Orange to a 30-5 record, winning the first national championship in the program’s history. There are players.
