First, as a mold used to create long and skinny cheese boards. Second, to be a coaster set mold, allowing the creation of (4) 4x4" coasters at up to 1" thick. The 16.5" length of this mold gives you the extra 0.5" to accommodate for waste due to the blade kerf (width) so you still end up with a 4x4" coaster after cutting.
