Small Etched Oval Vintage Oxblood Coral Pendant in 18K Gold
Italian deep red oxblood coral is called "Moro." It is a color that possesses a certain authority and mystery. The contrast between a deep Moro red and 18K gold is one of the most luxurious color pairings and feels ancient and powerful. Oxblood coral primarily comes from the deep waters off the coast of Japan and Taiwan. It is a deep blackened crimson that mimics the color of oxygenated blood. Unlike Mediterranean coral, which grows at accessible depths, oxblood coral grows at extreme depths, making it dangerous to harvest, and is incredibly slow-growing. With delicate hand-etched details at each corner, this piece possesses an enchanting folkloric spirit. An oval coral stone measuring 7/16” x 3/16” is hand-set in recycled 18k gold on an etched flat oval measuring 5/8” x 5/16”, that hangs from an 18” 18K chain finished with a small round lobster clasp. This necklace can be shortened or lengthened. All stones are ethically sourced. Made in NYC.
