Fossils

Fossils translates the altered photographic objects of Alejandro's "Photographic Structures" series into the form of a book, extending their transformation from discarded images into a new system of meaning. Removed from their original contexts, cut apart, rearranged, and now sequenced across pages, these expired photographs are no longer bound to the people, events, or intentions they once represented. Their absences, repetitions, and remaining visual structures become a kind of photographic residue. The book proposes that photographs do not simply lose their meaning as they age; they become available for new meanings.
