Fried Chicken - (Capsicum chinense) The Fried Chicken Pepper (Capsicum chinense) is a rare superhot created by Italian grower Rocco Maltesi around 2016–2017 from Jay’s Peach Ghost Scorpion (JPGS) and a Bubblegum-type pepper. Originally known by names such as Bubblegum Skin or BubbleSkin, it later earned the “Fried Chicken” name because its heavily wrinkled, golden-orange pods resemble crispy fried chicken. Pods ripen from green to peach-orange or golden tones and develop a rough, twisted surface, sometimes with a small pointed tail. Flavor is fruity and slightly sweet with citrus, floral, and earthy notes before the intense heat takes over.
