Leopard Climbing Tree

For the leopard, it was just another ordinary day. For us, it was an unforgettable moment. During the previous evening’s safari, we learned that this leopard had hoisted its kill into a tree. That information became the highlight of our dinner conversation as we discussed with our guide how we could capture the perfect photograph the following morning. Before sunrise the next day, we set off on safari and headed straight to the tree. It wasn’t just a matter of waiting—it was a carefully planned opportunity. We observe the tree and assume the exact side the leopard would most likely take to climb back up. We positioned our safari vehicle accordingly, set up our cameras, and waited in complete anticipation. A hyena lingered beneath the tree, hoping for a chance to steal the carcass if it happened to fall. As dawn slowly broke, we adjusted our camera settings every minute, fine-tuning the ISO and shutter speed as the light improved. Then, at last, the leopard appeared. It walked calmly towards the tree and, as if it had agreed to follow our plan, climbed exactly along the path where all five of us had already focused our cameras. The shutters fired in perfect unison. Just two seconds. This is the photograph we had planned for and patiently waited to capture since the previous evening.
