Searchlight Favia LPS Coral Frag
Searchlight Favia, Favia sp., is a large polyp stony coral known for its rounded corallites, fleshy tissue, and bright contrasting mouths. This WYSIWYG frag features deep green tissue with vivid yellow-green centers that stand out like glowing searchlights under reef lighting. Favia-type brain corals are popular LPS corals because they are hardy, colorful, and develop into attractive mounding colonies with strong texture and pattern. Care Guide: Favia sp. generally does best in low to moderate lighting and low to moderate indirect water flow. Avoid placing it in very strong direct flow, which can irritate the fleshy tissue, and give it space from nearby corals because Favia corals may extend sweeper tentacles at night. Maintain stable reef parameters, including alkalinity, calcium, magnesium, salinity, and temperature. This coral is photosynthetic but benefits from occasional target feeding with mysis, finely chopped meaty foods, or quality LPS coral foods when feeding tentacles are extended.
