It replaces codes sent by SMS or generated in an app with a physical key you keep on you — a login cannot be phished if the attacker does not have the key in their hand. This model is FIDO-only. The Pro adds one-time passwords (HOTP and TOTP) and smart card certificate login (PIV), which is what you need for Windows domain sign-in or storing certificates.
