Zuccardi Aluvional Los Chacayes 2020
Description Score: 96 pts Robert Parker | 94 pts Guia Descorchados Zuccardi Aluvional Los Chacayes 2020 is an exceptional, deeply expressive terroir-driven red wine crafted by Zuccardi Valle de Uco under the winemaking leadership of Sebastián Zuccardi and Laura Principiano. Sourced from the prestigious Geographic Indication (IG) of Los Chacayes in Tunuyán, Uco Valley, this 100% Malbec stems from vineyards situated on the southern zone of the alluvial fans of Arroyo Grande at altitudes ranging from 1,100 to 1,300 meters. Grown in a temperate climate with intense solar radiation on soils characterized by sand and silt deposits over small, slightly eroded stones with occasional limestone and gypsum, the 2020 vintage was highly distinct—marked by low yields and an exceptionally rapid, challenging ripening process. Handled entirely via gravity-fed grape movement, it was fermented with native yeasts and aged exclusively in concrete vats to safeguard its remarkable structural purity and vibrant sense of place. "Displaying a deep and intense color in the glass, the nose opens with excellent aromatic complexity, revealing rich layers of dark fruits interwoven with subtle floral notes and a refined, stony minerality. On the palate, it stands out for its great structure and striking texture, showcasing an abundance of juiciness beautifully balanced by an intact natural acidity. The finish is remarkably long, elegant, and persistent, faithfully reflecting the premium identity of this unique mountain paraje."
