Drawing on the timeless Ubi Caritas chant as a framing element (intro and refrain), this composition reimagines the beloved plainsong, making it especially fitting for the Washing of the Feet or Communion song on Holy Thursday. An extended, chant-inspired introduction offers a moment for quiet reflection, inviting the assembly to refocus and enter more deeply into the liturgical action. Three lyrical verses, inspired by St. Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 13:4–13 and featuring original music, unfold through graceful melodic lines and simple, open harmonies that convey warmth and serenity. Centered on the primacy of love, both God’s love for us and our love for one another, this versatile piece is also well suited for weddings, reconciliation services, and celebrations throughout the liturgical year.
