Arguably the most recognised name in luxury automotive design, the Rolls-Royce monogram is reinterpreted here by Vince Edmunds in his signature medium of glue chipped glass and 24 carat gold leaf. The iconic double ‘R’ is rendered with clarity and presence, allowing the material and craftsmanship to carry the weight of the marque’s legacy. Each artwork is individually handcrafted to order. A defining quality of glue chipped glass is that the chipping pattern cannot be controlled, meaning each subsequent piece will differ from the one shown here. This unpredictability - a form of natural alchemy - is what gives the process its depth and ensures that every piece created is entirely unique. The artwork is created in 4mm float glass and is framed in a satin black frame with a gold sight line to enhance the beauty of the gilded chipped glass. The piece is completed with enamel paints to the rear of the glass, ensuring a smooth finish to the final artwork. The piece is fitted with two mirror plates for secure hanging.
