SL28 is one of our favourite varietals at Rumble, originally developed in Kenya and famed for its exceptional cup quality. Grown in Huila, Colombia, this lot expresses the varietal in a new way while retaining its signature vibrancy. This lot was selectively hand-picked for high sugar content and naturally processed, beginning with 48 hours of anaerobic fermentation before slow drying on raised beds over 20-30 days. Careful turning ensures even drying and outstanding clarity in the cup. Betania Farm sits within a collective of 117 smallholder producers in southern Huila, united by a shared commitment to quality and respect for the land. Together, they’ve built a collaborative model that champions traditional farming, chemical-free practices and full traceability. Shared infrastructure - from cupping labs to drying stations - allows every producer to elevate their coffee. Led by Don Linarco (“Don Lino”), this community blends deep knowledge with innovation, producing coffees that truly express Huila’s heritage.
