Comes on whisky brown colored vinyl + hand signed insert Middle of Nowhere is the seventh studio album by American singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves – released on May, 2026. The album opens with the title track “Middle of Nowhere,” a tempo-shifting mood piece that sets the geographical and emotional thesis: empty highways and the surprising peace of refusing to define what’s next. “Dry Spell,”the lead single (with a video Musgraves co-directed with Hannah Lux Davis), is the wittiest thing she’s written since “Follow Your Arrow” — a single woman’s wry catalog of romantic drought. “Everybody Wants to Be a Cowboy” with Billy Strings is the post-Yellowstone cultural commentary the genre desperately needed, and it’s smart enough to keep the drums off the track entirely so Strings’ flatpicking can do the talking. “Mexico Honey” leans into Latin pop and is a fun left turn. “Horses and Divorces,” a duet with Miranda Lambert was performed live for the first time in New Braunfels just days after release. Right after it sits “Uncertain, TX,” Musgraves’s third collaboration with Willie Nelson (following “Are You Sure” and “A Willie Nice Christmas”), and Willie at 92 still phrases like nobody else alive. Middle of Nowhere is what happens when a once-in-a-generation songwriter stops trying to live up to the last one and starts writing from where she actually is — which, for now, is somewhere between Lockhart and Marfa, with the radio on and nobody in the passenger seat.
