About Bocote (黄金檀) Bocote is a distinctive precious hardwood sourced from trees of the genus Cordia that is native to Mexico and Central America. Bocote is often used to make high-end furniture and musical instruments. Renowned for its dramatic grain patterns—featuring bold lines, swirls and a spectrum of colors from honey-gold to dark brown—bocote stands out for its visual appeal. Its natural density and durability make it resistant to wear, while inherent oils enhance its smoothness and help protect against moisture. These characteristics, combined with its workability and balanced weight, make bocote an exceptional material for crafting high-end writing instruments, offering both unique aesthetics and lasting durability. Bocote carries a unique aromatic smokey and vinegary wooden scent like pickled relish. With use over time, bocote will become darker and very shiny. By pressing the button at the end of the pen barrel, then releasing the button to recoil back to original position, a vacuum is created inside the barrel, allowing ink to be drawn into the pen. The push-button mechanism is made of metal and equipped with a corrosion-resistant piston, making it durable and long-lasting. Maintenance and cleaning are also easy. Repeated presses of the button can draw in more ink, with a capacity of over 2cc! The pen comes with a German-made JOWO no.6 stainless steel nib.
