Ceramic Sculpture
This course in an opportunity to explore making with clay for a full five-day week. Truly immerse yourself in the creative process. Our summer courses offer an exploration of hand building, carving, press moulding and casting techniques, whether your project be large or small. We offer you an impressive array of clay types and colours from lusciously smooth porcelain to the gloriously textured black and crank clays. All materials and bisque firing included. In addition, this year we are preparing an exiting project to take your surface design to the next level. Watch this space for more updates! Enjoy a lovely, relaxed and friendly atmosphere, an array of technical possibilities only a multidisciplinary art school can offer and professional tuition from two tutors. We focus on hand building techniques, however throwing will also be available if you would like to try it out. While we can provide most clay tools you can share with others on the course, it is best that you bring some of your own hand building tools as well as paint brushes, an apron and a sketch book. Get in touch for a full tool list if you would like to purchase an entire set of tools for yourself ahead of time. Please note that due to time constraints, this course does not include glazing and glaze firing. Once your work has been bisqued (included) you have the option to purchase a stand-alone glazing class, which will be available in the evenings as well as daytime during term time. Tutors: Emilia Radlinska & Tessa Eastman (#SC26)
