Handbuilding with Sarah Root Thursday Mornings July 30th- September 3rd 11am-2pm This is a 6 week beginner-intermediate friendly class where you’ll learn essential handbuilding techniques as you create sculptural and functional pieces. In this class you will learn ceramics foundations and what it takes to make a variety of handbuilt projects. We will go over how to make sturdy slabs, soft slab construction, coil building, leather hard slab construction, as well as how to use washes, underglazes and glazes. The projects each week will vary from session to session so you can take the class as many times as you like! Cancelation Policy: If you need to cancel due to any reason, Wildling needs two full weeks before the class start date for you to receive a credit towards another class. We require 4 week notice to issue a full refund. Tools: You will need to a beginner set of tools, I also recommend that you bring or purchase a red rubber MUDTOOLS RIB and a scoring tool. We sell all these items in our supply store, you may purchase them before or during class. CLASS INCLUDES: Clay, glazes, and firing. Tuition also covers access to our Open Studio which is held on Sundays from 10am-4pm and Wednesdays 10:30-3:30. You may come to one session per week to practice what you are learning in class. Wildling Collaborative Arts is an Artists Collective in Eugene OR founded in 2023. We offer a membership ceramics studio which is the only 24/7 ceramics studio in Eugene. Wildling was found by local Eugene Artists with the intention of creating a community space that is accessible and inclusive. Wildling provides a living wage to all of their employees, giving local artist a dependable salary so they can support their families and the local economy. We host workshops and classes in our large classroom space as well as offer private studios for local small businesses in Eugene. We are also home to Viking Textile Makers Space. We have recently opened up our Clay and Arty supply store which also serves as a gallery space to host the works of local Eugene artists. We are active in the Whitaker community and participate in the Whitaker Last Friday Art Walk. Wildling Collaborative Arts is an accessible and inclusive space.
