Molinia caerulea Transparent
Purple Moor Grass Transparent Website Description Often referred to as Purple Moor Grass, Molinia caerulea subsp. arundinacea Transparent is a breathtaking ornamental grass celebrated for its unmatched transparency and airy elegance. It forms a neat, compact mound of arching, bright green foliage in Spring and early Summer. From mid-Summer onwards, the plant undergoes a spectacular transformation as it sends up exceptionally tall, slender stems that rise high above the leaves. At the top of these stems sit delicate, purplish flower panicles. The spacing of the stems and the open nature of the flowers create a see-through, beaded veil effect, allowing gardeners to plant it in the middle of a border without blocking the view of plants behind it. In Autumn, the entire plant turns a spectacular, glowing golden-yellow or coppery-orange, providing incredible structure and colour into early Winter. This deciduous grass is highly versatile and brings a kinetic, moving element to the garden as the tall stems dance effortlessly in the slightest breeze. It is an exceptional choice for matrix planting, naturalistic prairie schemes, or for adding vertical drama to contemporary landscapes.
